Private Dog Training
& Behavior Modification

Set your dog up for optimal learning success with private training and behavior modification sessions! Unlike in group classes, where other dogs and people compete for your dogs attention, in one-on-one sessions we have better control over environmental distractions and stressors, which makes it much easier for your dog to focus and absorb new information. In addition, private training honors your dog’s individual learning pace, allows targeting specific behaviors YOU want your dog to learn or to eliminate and gives you the freedom to choose the days and times that work for you!

Areas served: Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas & Vista

An additional travel fee of $15 applies to session locations more than 10 miles from 92008 zip code.

Private Behavior Modification

When your dog has undesired responses to specific situations or stimuli, behavior modification is the approach to change those responses. In the initial consultation we will explore the underlying reasons for your dog’s inappropriate responses and then seeks to change them. The most common behaviors that dog owners wish to change are fearful responses or anxiety, reactivity, resource guarding, and excessive barking.

Private Training Walks

Training Walks are an excellent way to practice your dog’s skills and good manners outside around distraction and give your dog the opportunity to go on a “sniffari” at the end of the session. During this customized service, good manners and obedience skills will be taught and positively reinforced. This is a great way for your pup to get extra practice with their basic skills such as sit, down, stay, heel, and come with the guidance of an experienced trainer.

In addition to working on your dog’s basic manners, more serious concerns like leash reactivity or anxiety can be addressed during a training walk. The focus is on changing the dog’s perspective about something he doesn’t like in the environment and giving the dog more tools to build confidence when out and about. NOTE: Behavior Modification Training Walks are offered to those who have previously completed a training program with me to address reactivity and/or aggression.

Each walk is 45 minutes.

Please contact me directly to inquire about my rates and current availability for training walks!

I had the BEST experience with Lana Falke helping me with my boy, Bode. He is a large Rhodesian Ridgeback who needed guidance, confidence and working through issues with some male dog reactivity. Lana was incredible at taking him from a non-listener, challenging 100# teenage boy, to attentive, responsive, and calmer in public. She gave me tools and homework which helped develop our bond even further! Her patience and skills were incredible to watch as she guided us. Bode has come SO far and I couldn’t be more grateful to her for giving me and him lifelong tools and confidence.

Swetlana X Falke, CPDT-KA, FFCP

Dog Trainer & Animal Lover

Lana holds the CPDT-KA certification and is a Fear Free Certified Professional, AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, and member of the Pet Professional Guild.

With a lifelong passion for canines, Lana has dedicated her career to enhancing the bond between humans and their four-legged companions. As a teen, you could find her with her Rough Collie, Iris, competing at conformation shows across Germany. She has always had a big heart for homeless pets, and at the age of 10, she started visiting the local animal shelter on weekends to walk the rescue dogs and give them a break from their kennels.

Soon after moving to the U.S. in 2012, Lana signed up to volunteer at the San Diego Humane Society. During her 5 years with the organization, she took on a variety of roles and responsibilities with shelter dogs. She apprenticed with Lindsey Lieberman, CBCC, Fear Free CPDT, who was the Behavior & Training Coordinator. During her time as a Behavior & Training shelter volunteer, Lana became acquainted with a variety of dog personalities, temperaments, and behavioral concerns, and it greatly shaped how she approaches training and behavior modification, particularly in the most challenging cases.

If you are seeking assistance with manners training or behavior modification, Lana can help you and your dog build a relationship based on trust and cooperation while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare by utilizing scientifically proven, force-free methods that ensure the animal’s physical and emotional safety and well-being.

Lana specializes in helping reactive and/or fear-aggressive dogs and their humans. Because she shares her life with highly sensitive dogs who require an extra portion of patience and understanding, she can relate to the struggles that other guardians of behaviorally-challenged dogs experience. By sharing her knowledge and skills, and implementing individualized plans, she can provide her clients and their dogs the proper tools and guidance to help create positive and lasting changes. She believes that all dogs are precious and works with each dog to bring out their unique strengths, and she’s dedicated to making training a positive and productive experience for both you and your dog.

Lana is also passionate about teaching her own dogs and cat fun tricks because she found that learning tricks helped her rescue pups build confidence and strengthen the human-animal connection. Aside from working with dogs, Lana practiced refining her skills in handling and training young horses for over a decade.

Whenever she is not training her clients’ dogs, Lana pours her heart into her two shepherd mixes, Pollux and Fern, and her kitty, Antares. She’s also a certified yoga instructor and enjoys bouldering, being creative, and spending quality time with family.
